Making rubber band bracelets has been going on for generations, But this rainbow room is a slight twist to the traditional friendship bracelet. They are great for kids because they are fairly inexpensive and will keep your son or daughter occupied for hours with their friends or siblings.
It was friendship bracelets when I was a kid, But today it is the rainbow loom. Arts and crafts store are making a huge profit off of these plastic blooms and the colorful bands to go with them. The rainbow loom was created a few years ago in the United States and has become a very popular thing, selling over 1.2 million units today. There are knock off plastic looms that have come out, But because they infringe on the original patent, There are lawsuits going on.
My kids sit for hours with their friends making their bracelets of all sizes and shapes. They make them for their family members and friends and teachers. It is a great indoor activity that keeps kids occupied with out playing video games or watching TV.

Kids can just go to YouTube, And search for a how-to video for the specific bracelet they are wanting to learn to make. There are several videos for each bracelet with step-by-step instructions. This is a great exercise for the kids to learn hand eye coordination, and is a great way to teach them to follow step-by-step directions. Often times kids just want things given to them, Or they don't want to work, So this teaches them to make something useful with their hands and give it away.

Because you can interchange colors as you wish, there is an infinite amount of styles that are possible with the triple single. When my kids first learned how to make a triple single, They made A ton of them. We now have triple single bracelets all over our house.
If there is an elementary student near you, Or in your family, get them a rainbow room if they don't already have one. If they do have one, they are most likely making bracelets and will need more rubber bands. This is a great birthday or Christmas gift that is fairly inexpensive that they will love.
