For Skillful Graffiti Removal Aurora Is The Place To Go

By Annabelle Holman

Applying graffiti on a surface is a much easier job than removing it. It is hard to appreciate this fact if one has never taken part in a removal process. When trying to remove the marks from surfaces, the nature of surface should dictate the technique to be used. Currently several methods and products exist for achieving this task. However, whenever in search for reliable services for graffiti removal Aurora should be the first to come to mind.

Use of chemicals, scrubbing, emulsification, sandblasting, and repainting are among the commonest removal techniques usable. Graffiti can be applied on any surface including metal, plastic, glass, wood, and masonry. To achieve total removal, some surfaces need a combination of methods. This writing is about surfaces and methods that can work best on them.

Common paint thinners can perform fine on metallic surfaces. Some of the thinners that can be used are acetone, lacquer thinner and mineral spirits. There is no problem with trying other chemical products. Bronze or steel wool can be used to rub off any remnants of paint. Rubbing with light sandpaper is not too bad also. Power washing may be useful in removing paint remnants due to deeply seated graffiti marks.

The method to use on a wooden surface depends on the condition of wood in question. Wood that is still in good condition and has not weathered can be cleaned using mineral spirits. However, weathered wood is not suitable for using mineral spirit because it is absorbed by the wood. This drives the paint deeper into the wood. Repainting the surface can do better because power washing may also drive paint deeper.

Plastic surfaces should be wiped using light penetrating oils. Paint thinners should never be used because they may cause permanent tackiness or clouding on the plastic surface. A better method for use on plastic surfaces is sandblasting. This method is however only applicable on hard and strong plastics. A soft rub using ultra-fine bronze or steel wool may also work well on some forms of plastics.

Masonry surfaces present the most challenge. One among the best methods to use on these surfaces is power washing at a pressure of 3000 psi. The graffiti should be removed with such pressure from a pressure washer. If that fails, another option would be to sandblast the surface. The stream of abrasive should not be left at one spot of the surface because it may cause permanent etching. Paint over should be the last option to consider.

Cleaning glass surfaces is tricky because of their fragility. It is also easy to etch the surface using minimum efforts. The best way to avoid breakages and etching is to use a razor blade to scrape the surface. An angle of 30 degrees should be maintained with the surface and the blades should also be placed in a holder. This method works well on glass, having an efficiency of 99 percent. After scrapping paint remnants can be rubbed off using water and ultra-fine bronze wool.

Use of some of the methods poses certain risks to workers. As such, caution must be exercised to avoid injuries. Wearing protective gear like respirators and sunglasses can reduce the risks significantly.
