Learn How To Create Scrap Metal Garden Art

Nearly everyone has seen those unique ornaments placed throughout gardens. While folks can certainly purchase these ornaments at their local gardening supply store, it is fun to create them yourself. There are a number of websites that can instruct you on how to create scrap metal garden art. It is necessary to begin by searching for and collecting junk that you can turn in to a masterpiece.

Learn to identify pieces of scrap that can be turned into art. Check in the shed, basement, and garage for items that you are no longer using. An old rim from a tire, old window frames, old silverware, watering can, or broken and rusty gardening tools are ideal for creating yard art.

Other things that can be used in the yard as ornamental are wheelbarrows and old ladders. These things make a great starting point for unique creations. With some imagination just about anything can be turned into yard art. Some of the items you find can be sanded and painted to add splashes of color to your yard.

Collect a wire cutter, old hooks, pliers, and a tin punch. These are the tools to use when you create your artwork. Some people will even weld the junk together to create a variety of creatures and animals for the garden creatures and animals. For a really unique effect, combine rusted pieces with painted items.

Once you have a good collection of junk you need to study it to get an idea of what you can create. Arrange and rearrange the pieces to get ideas of how you want to use them. Sometimes it is necessary to add to the collection of junk if nothing appeals to the eye. Once an idea is sparked you are ready to start the project. You may envision an original design when you look at the scrap.

Try letting your creative side lead the way and be surprised at the interesting art that you can create. Collect coffee and soup cans to make a tin man. Use an old metal funnel as the hat. Tin snips and thin sheet metal can be used to make a wind catcher or wind sounder that can hang in the garden.

There are several ways to assemble the tin man with demonstrations and step by step instructions found online. Another idea is to use old wire hangers and old silverware to make a wind chime for the garden. This is the time to be creative and let your imagination run wild. Using an old tire rim, old kitchen pot, and bed springs, you can create a garden creature.

Using a tin snip cut thin metal into strips. Twist the strips and then use the punch to make a hole on one end of each strip. Use wire and hang the strips to make wind catchers. You can cut smaller pieces and hang them from an old whisk or string then together creating a wind sounder. These sounders are similar to chimes but have softer sounds. Using your imagination there is no limit to what you can make.
