A Brief History About Haunted Long Island

By Daphne Bowen

Long Island is a historical place that was inhabited by Native Americans many centuries ago. There are several myths and misconceptions about this geographical location narrated everywhere. Most of these tales are based on the ancient occurrences of this area and insights perceived by various people. There are very many artifacts in Haunted Long Island that have transformed the place into an archaeological site.

There is a famous ancient mountain with a winding road which passes through dense vegetation cover. This physical feature is known to have spirits of ancient people who died mysteriously in the past. A good example is the narrative about a hospital which burnt down with workers trapped inside, believed to have ghosts roaming everywhere within the island. The fire is said to have been started by a retarded nurse and people claim to have seen several ghosts. Another tale is about a mass suicide involving multiple teenagers who hung themselves next to a road and most tourists claim to have seen bones of these young adults.

A mental health facility which collapsed hence burying several people inside, joins the list of superstitions too. This was a very grave massacre which led to loss of very many innocent lives who to date can be heard screaming for help. Within the premises, an underground pathway, which was found by curious historians, facilitated inhuman practices such as subjection to electric shock. Ancient people had very cruel punishing techniques.

Lakes formed many years ago are said to be sacred places with magical and spiritual powers which were used by the locals in the past for healing purposes. A Native American princess committed suicide in a lake by drowning herself to death many years ago. She did this because her bridegroom was assassinated on their wedding night by a random traveler. Superstitions about this suicide story are that every year, a man must drown in the lake and the lady can be seen at times.

There is also a very big house belonging to a rich man that was transformed into catholic premises. The dark side about this story is that the man had a daughter who had died after she suffered from typhoid. Her spirits are continually felt within the catholic premises mainly characterized by an image of the girl wearing black clothes as she produces weird sounds. The management of the religious facility has given no comments about the issue as most people say that it is conspiracy.

Another farmhouse also has spirits of three innocent souls who were brutally murdered by a young adult. The criminal used an axe to end the lives of his victims and was charged several years later for the inhuman crime. He was sentenced to death and randomly buried in a cemetery without proper send off.

A woman was also cold bloodily murdered in her house which was later transformed into a hotel. Most clients of this hotel have complained about hearing strange voices of a woman in pain. Another twenty year old girl was also brutally assassinated near the initial crime scene and her spirits are still wandering around.

In a nutshell, most stories about haunted in this region have been criticized for being imaginary and superstitious in nature. It is difficult to tell if these tales are true because everyone is entitled to their opinions regardless of their validity.
