By Ruth Wood

Places where human beings live in are known to attract other living creatures most notably rodents. This is mainly because of the availability of warmth and constant supply of food among other necessities. However, these creatures are known to cause a lot of discomfort or may even lead to outbreaks of diseases related to them. Below is a guide on how to keep mice out of RV.

In most cases, the mice will be attracted by the presence of food. This will include the foodstuff stored in the storage cabinets as well as the leftovers. To ensure that this does not bring them in the trailer, the owners should ensure that they dispose all leftovers and waste as well. This can be achieved by use of dustbins that have covers. Getting rid of food stuff is among the best measure to put in.

Cleaning is also a very effective measure. It should be carried out on the entire trailer often. Among the regions to concentrate on includes the kitchen as well as the storage facilities. This is because there is likeliness of some of the food falling in one instance or another. Constant cleaning therefore helps in getting rid of it as well as other dirt.

Mice get into an RV through opening in most cases. These openings include broken ventilators, pipes or sockets. To avoid this, they should be replaced immediately they get faulty. Sealing should also be carried out in case it is not possible to undertake the repairs in the shortest time possible.

Another tip is avoiding places where there is likeliness of mice existence. This includes bushy areas as well as areas serving as dump sites. The trailers should therefore not be packed on such areas. It is also wise to first clear the parking lot, especially, if it has not been used for a long time before making use of it.

Another way of fighting this menace is the use of traps. These traps are placed in areas that the mice are likely to be hiding. Cautions should however be taken to avoid cases of the accidents taking place when the inhibitors end up stepping on them unknowingly. Traps are therefore not a good option, especially when there are kids around.

Rodent poison has been among the oldest method to fight them. The poison is placed on the foods that the rats feed on. It is made in a way that it attracts them. This should be an option where the mice infestation seems to be beyond control. Constant cleaning, however, has to be carried to eradicate the already dead ones.

Month balls are also an option in this case. They are small pellets with a pungent smell that drives away the mice. They can be placed on clothes to prevent them from hiding in closets. The pungent smells comes from the pesticide they are made of. These balls, however, should be constantly replaced with time for effective results.
