Fun Easy DIY Projects For Decorating Your Home

By Karina Frost

More and more people are starting to do diy projects. There are many different fun easy diy projects that you can do and then use to decorate your house with. Many of the projects can be done with things very easily accessible to anyone. These projects are not only easy and fun but cheap too.

You could build a headboard for a bed in no time at all. A quick easy diy project that will not cost you much money at all and it will add a personal touch to any bedroom. All you need is wooden pallets and paint or wood stain. You just choose the color you want to use and paint it outside. Once it has dried you put it up against a wall and put your bed in front of it, then you have your very own headboard you made all by yourself.

The television and computer area in homes usually have a lot of cords plugged into a power strip. This is not a good look, the best way to hide these cords is with a simple diy project. All you need for this is a shoe box and wrapping paper or paint. You will probably want to use something that will match the room it will be used in. Cut a hole in both ends of your box so the cords can fit through them.

You put the power strip into the box and push the cord through one end of the box through the hole you already cut out and plug it into the wall. Then you simply run your cords through the other hole you already cut out and plug them into your power strip then simply put the top on the box you painted or wrapped. It is really that simple to hide your power strip.

A great kitchen project is cooking utensil holder that is made out of a rake. But a new metal rake, a plastic one will not work for this project. Remove the handle from the new rake and hang the bottom part of your rake on the kitchen wall. Then take your cooking spoons and spatulas and hang them on the rake prongs. You can either paint your rake or leave it the color it comes.

A fun kitchen project you could do with your kids is to make holders for your eating utensils. Take food cans and wash them well and let them dry. Once they dry paint them the color of your choice. You can paint them different colors or all the same color. This is why the kids love it because they get to paint it whatever color they want, as long as you approve of course.

You should paint the inside of the cans also so that when you take a fork or spoon out you see the color inside as well as outside. You should do a separate can for each type of utensil. You will want to have one for forks, butter knives, spoons and your steak knives. You can put them on the kitchen table so you do not have to get them out during meal times because they are already on the table.

The projects can be fun, easy and cheap. These are projects that will add charm to any home just by using ordinary items that normally get thrown away.
