The real job is finding that job itself.

Do some research online and ask for referrals from other companies. Seek full details of the terms and charges in writing before making a selection of the agency to work with.

Contact your nearest human resource consultant to give you more references of recruitment agencies. Pick a recruitment agency you wish to work with during your job search. Depending on your qualifications and the job industry you are interested in; choose a recruitment agency that is in line with industry. Plan and visit their premises and familiarize with them better.

Your resume is the first step of finding a job. Make sure your resume is up to date. Your resume will market you to potential recruiters. It is your face and so it creates the first impressions of who you are. Tailor your resume to meet the specifications of the job industry you are targeting.

When dealing with a recruitment agent, make sure you are honest with them. Honesty will be the gateway to helping the recruitment agent to discover your potential and weaknesses. They will then advice you on how to cover your weaknesses and how to milk the worth out of your strengths.

Give enough details to the job agency as much as possible. Tell him about a termination or a conviction of a past criminal offence. As much as you are paying them, they will want you to reflect well upon them on their clients. Make a clear description of the job you wish to be selected for. Give them your terms and qualifications for a better understanding. Do not be too demanding in the process as that will make it hard for the recruiter to connect you to a potential employer.

Once you have been invited and attended an interview ensure you try to make a follow up on the progress of your recruitment process especially if you feel the progress is too slow. Do not be too pushy though as that may destroy your relationship with the agent and see you as an impatient person. Be sure to be open-minded and try to be realistic when you are making demands. If you feel you could be having any kind of doubts about your potential, do not hesitate to seek advice from your recruiting agency.

Talk to your agency if you feel that you are not being offered the type of jobs that you are looking for. Make your relationship with a recruitment agency last for as long as you are still looking for that job. In case you feel you are getting a raw deal, you may need to try elsewhere for better results.
