Why use a raised bed? Why not just grow on the flat ground? When you see the abundance of crops your raised beds will give you, you will know why they are so popular.

3.You can grow for longer through the year as the plants last longer without competition from weeds and more moisture in the soil.

4.Raised beds are typically not walked on or stood on by gardeners, so soil isn't compacted, which in turn leads to better aeration and drainage.

5.Evidence shows that raised gardens produce much more crops than planting out in rows.

6.Raised beds can be built at a height to suit anyone, allowing older and those with less mobility to enjoy gardening.

But if you want to grow only a handful of plants then it's probably better for you to grow in pots rather than a raised bed. But if you want to grow more and for longer then get a raised bed.

If you lack experience then start with growing some vegetables that are known to be easier to grow. Starting out with exotic varieties will be too taxing and it's good to see early results from your gardening efforts. A good crop can be grown with little time and work.
