According to Andy Rooney, he doesn't like food which is carefully decorated as it makes him feel that more time has been spent on arranging the food rather than cooking. According to him, he wanted to look at something, he would prefer a painting to food.

It is a fact that though the chefs make tasty food, this prepared food has to be delivered to those who host parties or who are not in a position to come to the restaurant. That means a caterer.

But some caterers are better than others.

You must start out being a quality fanatic, you must have communication skills, you need to be able to move perishable items effectively, you have to be a master planner, and you have skills as an entrepreneur.

Most of all, you need to know about food. You have to have the skills of a master chef so you can prepare those special items most people want at their parties or other get togethers. Not just any cook can do this. You need to be a master chef with experience, dedication and practice.

Skills for social interaction is essential for catering. You will be dealing with a variety of customers who have differing needs. For this, you have to be fully aware of their needs including their preferences of food and delivery. If there are problems, you have to be able to solve them on the go and get what they want there on time. All the time, you have to have a smile on your face as you do it.

The effective handling and movement of perishable food items is important aspect of catering. Many people get good at this with practice. It also helps to have the right equipment.

Being a master planner is important requirement of a caterer. You will have several orders at a time and these are time sensitive. Not only is timing essential in comedy, it is required for any caterer. These days it means computer programs and staff to assist you. For this you may have to learn computers of employ somebody to manage delivery.

Catering means you have to think on your feet. Often the clients may require your opinion about instant changes in menus to suit the occasion. Coming up with the right answer will get you the job.

Wanting to own a small business is a per-requisite for any catering business. There are many changes going on in the field right now. That means you have to keep up with the times. You have to be cost effective. You have to be up on what people want and might need. With thew right skills it is very possible to write your ticket and have fun creating food that you can be proud of.
