Proving The Supernatural Through Paranormal Tourism

By Tammie Caldwell

Most people do not realize a love for something until having experienced it for the first time. Something that is extremely true when it comes to Paranormal Tourism. While there are a number of shows surrounding ghost hunting and movies like Ghostbusters, many do not take these type movies and shows seriously.

While based in fiction, Ghostbusters, Ghosts and other films can provide some insight into a haunting. Though, with so many individuals now working as ghost hunters, researchers and tour guides, individuals have the opportunity to explore a number of sightings. For a list ghost tours, haunted sites, hotels and other locations, a quick online search can provide a number of interesting returns.

Speaking of history, it seems a great number of ghost sightings and stories are related to historical events like the Civil War, or Holocaust. Not surprisingly, there have been many sightings in areas in which these events took place. One ghost tour related to an historical event is that of one in San Antonio, Texas related to the Alamo.

One reason it is imperative when working in tourism to have this information available. For, unless believers can prove details, there will always be skeptics, that is of course until one meets a spirit for the first time. Something, which has been known to happen more than once, especially in haunted areas like Savannah, Georgia and New Orleans, Louisiana.

Another area in which paranormal events often take place is in lighthouses around the world. As most lighthouses are quite old with many having closed down, there is no surprise there are rumors that many are haunted. Hollywood has also contributed to this reality by releasing a number of movies which include a haunted lighthouse or lighthouses during a plot or overall story line.

The most ghostly of the ghost tours in the United States is reported to be that of the Queen Mary, now docked in Long Beach, California. The Queen Mary has been featured on a number of ghost hunting shows and is quite well known. As many tourists have noted sightings which have been reported prior to touring the vessel, many more believe this ship to be haunted than believe in the haunting of other locations.

When it comes to haunted cities in the United States, most believe Savannah, Georgia and New Orleans, Louisiana to be the most haunted. St. Augustine, Florida being the oldest city is also rumored to have a number of ghosts residing within the city limits. Most often the ghosts in these areas are rumored to walk cemeteries, reside in bars, basements and historical mansions or roam the streets.

These well known locations often report the most sightings. Although, as spirits are reported to be lost souls of those whom have experienced a tragic death, ghosts often reside in the same place in which one lived, or died. Although, some have also been known to travel from one physical location to another.
