The Role Of Theatre Seating In Attracting Audiences

By Tammie Caldwell

A lot of people have love for the arts. This is why an area where people can perform, a theatre is important. Here, you will see people expressing themselves. Whether it is through plays, operas or other creative means. Theatre seating is also important. It needs to be well calculated. This means that it will definitely be determined by the size of the area.

The few areas you may have seen, normally have a particular arrangement of seats. Each row of seats is usually higher than the one in front. The purpose of this is for everyone to see clearly. No one can be hindered from viewing by another. The area in which the audience is should always be different from where you find the performers.

Obviously seats should be positioned according to the stage. The people have to be well able to view performances. Some seats are normally near the stage with only a small space separating them. There is another elevated position which is the balcony. This position is glorious however not just anyone is allowed to seat here. It is too perfect for ordinary people.

Some places go out of their way to ensure that their audience is comfortable. They want them to keep coming back after every show. This is definitely good for business. For comfortability, they leave reasonable space between seats. This could be 2-3 inches. The last thing you need while watching an amazing performance is feeling squeezed.

The seats themselves need to get on another level. You do not need to leave the venue while having back aches. Some of them will be padded giving them that extra cushiony feel. Sitting in such a place will definitely be an amazing feel. For those who love snacking in the middle of plays, cup holders can come in handy for keeping refreshments.

People who are disabled may have trouble when looking for a place to sit, depending on their handicap. This needs to be prevented by thinking of this issue before hand. Those who use wheelchairs need a place where they can position them for proper viewing. People who have slight hearing problems need assistance since acoustics is also related to the position of the seats.

The best arrangement depends on the audience. It should be in their best interest. At times one may have to push through other people to get to where they want to sit. Audience interaction should not be hindered by how they sit. There should always be maximum possible use of the available space so that the area can hold more people.

When planning to hold an event in a theatre, you definitely need to know the seating capacity. This turns definitely an amazing place for people to interact with artists by watching them perform. Many places have worked to ensure their theatres are on point so as to attract audiences. Go ahead and enjoy your opera or whatever else you plan to view.
