Growing And Caring For A Miniature Crape Myrtle

By Georgia Diaz

Having a garden or a few plants in the backyard can be a real therapy for those who are stressed out all the time. Now if one really loves to take care of trees and plants, then he might want to try growing a miniature crape myrtle. These are one of the prettiest garden trees in the entire world of gardening but they are also quite known to be demanding as they do need quite a bit of attention.

Now if one would want to grow this kind of thing, then the first thing that he should do would be to choose a good place where he can put the little tree. It has to be a place where the sun shine will constantly be shining and also a place where the soil is drained. Also, a tree like this will most likely thrive sometime in the spring or the summer time.

The first thing to do would be to dig a hole in the ground that is wider and bigger than the root ball of the try. After that put it inside the hole and to spread the roots inside the ground before filling the hole with soil. Once that is done, put some water on the soil for around ten minutes.

After that, put a two inch layer of some compost heap somewhere near the base of the tree. Now this is usually used as an alternative to fertilizer. If fertilizer would give nutrients to plants, then some compost will be able to give this tree the right amount of nutrients that it will be needing.

After putting some of the compost on the base, the very next thing to do would be to now put some mulch somewhere near the place where the compost was put. Just for measurement purposes, the mulch should be placed around three inches away from the trunk of the tree.

Once one has already established all of the important parts for the growth of the tree, then one has to just take care of it so that it does not dry. The first thing to take care of would be the water. One should constantly water the tree especially in the summer but must also make sure not to put too much as it likes dry soil.

After the summer, spring will come which means that the tree that was grown will need some pruning done on it. Take note that whenever a tree develops some weak or dead wood, they need to be cut off. The reason for that is simply because they need to make way for newer wood.

So for those who would want to grow and take care of a miniature crape myrtle, then here are some steps to do so. As long as one would be careful with the tree, it will grow to be very strong. Trees are living beings too and need some special attention which is why it is very important for owners to be able to know how to take care of one.
