The Perfectly Affordable Dragon Force RG65

By Juana Gamble

RC Yachts has introduced a radio controlled boat for sailing newbies and hobbyists all the same. The Dragon Force RG65 was designed to act as a surrogate yacht for this specific market demographic. It offers a competitive yachting experience to those who aren't sure of their passion for the sport, or to those who sail less frequently than the regular competitor.

The people who came up with or designed the Dragon Force used Mark Dicks' "Ice" boat as a model due to how well the boat fares in the market already. The yacht includes an aluminum keel, a stiff hull, and a pre-fitted sheet deck. The 2.4GHz radio, rudder, and winch servo are all located right under the deck.

The rig is built in consideration of all the RC yacht class rules. Two smaller rigs are also placed to aid in the smooth performance and control. This is an interesting addition which isolates the design and functionality of the rigs from other competitors.

The boat is incredibly easy to put together. It comes with a straight-forward manual and only requires about 2 to 3 hours of installation. When you're done building this 1,200g yacht, you will see that it performs a lot better in fast breezes due to the hull and rig designs.

The availability of more turning controls and the lighter design of the boat makes it better for navigation, giving the Dragon Force an edge from its competition. It is priced well, making the boat incredibly affordable to many novices who are considering joining the sport. However, in order to use it in competitive races, enhancements will need to be made on it.

Dragon Force critics have pointed out that the materials used to make this yacht is cheap and unsatisfactory. Instead of a carbon keeled hub, it uses an aluminum keel. Also, the hub material is weaker and of lower quality, often times causing it to become thin at the bow section.

Due to the fact that this yacht was designed mainly for occasional hobbyists and novices, all the criticism against it doesn't have to be highly regarded. The cheaper materials are necessary to make the boat affordable, and are perfectly decent for the average occasional user. Those who frequently sail these boats should look into a different model.

If you enjoy sailing these boats as merely a small hobby or if you are new to the sport, the Dragon Force yacht is perfect. You don't need a better yacht until you decide that you want to take the sport a lot more seriously. By then, your passion will grow and you won't mind paying a whole lot more for an expensive RC model.

Spare parts and great customer support have been offered for this model. These features aim to insure the yacht's long-lasting standing in the yacht market. It is also a vital measure to keep customer loyalty to the product when problems arise.
