"You need chaos in your soul to give birth to a dancing star." - Nietzsche
Take a moment, a single moment to return back to an incredibly hard moment in your life. Can you see a little light up in the corner?
There it was, joy. But how could joy exist in this? How could there be the presence of joy in this horrible moment? I didn't really understand, in fact all those years I thought it was resilience that kept me afloat. Sure, there definitely was the presence of resilience and not giving up in hard times, but even more was this presence of joy that could illuminate even the darkest of times.
I can recollect how it felt in that moment. Everything was totally black. The darkest black you could even imagine. If you have ever seen a black table that has been lacquered thousands of times, the depths appear never-ending. This situation and time in my life was this similar type of black and it was as thick is molasses. It was horrifying.
And yet, there was light always there. The only thing about it was that I wasn't looking for it.
Every single time you go back to these moments and places it will be incredibly difficult. Those secrets have been buried deep for such a long time and you have been so scared to let other people know about them. But eventually, those moments will bubble up to the surface if you don't take care of them when you need to. However, you shouldn't have to live scared. So dive in you must.
There's only one fundamental difference between avoiding your fears and heading straight into them - the amount of light you bring. When you walk straight into the things that scare you, you illuminate everything around you and you find out that what you were scared of all along really isn't all that bad.
So we have to dive into the depths to discover who we truly are.
