The Benefits Of Traditional Toys

By Shaz Nawaz

Looking at a toy you once played with or seeing a child play can trigger a feeling of nostalgia; you'll be reminded of the good old days you were a kid. Just like those old days, kids still do play with traditional toys. This is due to the many benefits the playthings have over the modern ones. Here are some of the benefits you should know about:

A toy-box with different playthings is likely to spark the creativity and imagination of your child. This is a great way to help them discover and learn about new things. You should encourage your child to play a lot. This is very important as it helps them develop fine motor (coordination of muscle movement) skills as well as problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

You will notice that most modern playthings are models of cars, planes and a host of other things. Well, this may look cool but that's all. The playthings leave little room for imagination. Other than allowing kids to emulate their favorite cartoon and TV characters, this branded toy memorabilia provides no inspiration to children; the playtime revolves around copying and repetition.

Studies have shown that children appreciate the environment they are in. Rather than using a noise making toy to create the environment of emergency, war or any other play scenario, they would rather create the sound effects in their heads. In other words, a conventional toy would help the child feel relaxed while enjoying their playtime.

Another important feature of using conventional playthings such as rag dolls or wooden blocks is that they offer health and safety benefits. Children like putting things into their mouths and this can be very dangerous at times. Most conventional playthings are made from natural materials such as wood which are less toxic compared to plastic or metal ones. They are safe to use; no battery leakages, no metal parts that rust, no electric parts and neither can they be chewed nor broken into pieces.

The conventional playthings are made using great technique that incorporates the use of decoration methods which are non-toxic. The material does not splinter or break easily; it's tough yet soft to touch. With such a toy, your child will be safe.

Traditional toys are more durable than modern ones which generally come and go with trends. Their best selling point is the fact that they can be passed from generation to generation.
