Using LED Lights As Commercial Christmas Decorations

By Marcie Goodman

In the last 150 years, the Christmas tree has barely changed. The commercial Christmas decorations have only evolved from candles to LED lights. There is no doubting the fact that lights on the tree brings joy and lights up moods during the festivities. However, at the end of the season, homes were littered with ashes and cinders due to the use of candles and the falling dry Christmas tree leaves. This has now changed with the technological development.

At the beginning of the twentieth century, people began to look for replacements for the ordinary candle, and the incandescent light was introduced. This light was thought of as amazing, cheap and very safe to use. However, technology soon produced the LED light, and this proved to be even more versatile and effective, even if it was a bit more costly. LED lights have many advantages over candles and incandescent lights.

They have enormous energy saving capabilities. Since they generate their light differently from the incandescent light, LEDs take up very little energy. They use diodes to emit light energy but the incandescent sets a filament aglow hence using a lot of power. Conversion from the old to new technology causes a 90% reduction in energy consumption, a great way to go green for Christmas.

LED lights are also not difficult to set up. In general, only a few power sources are needed, and you will find that a limited number of extension cords are required. Many LED lights strung together will still not use much power at all. Incandescent lights may need more power points.

There is no heat like in the other type of lighting. One can just touch LED lights without any fear of being burned. They generate light without an accompanying great generation or heat so they keep cool comparably. Even if they are left on for the whole day, they will not give you any discomfort.

The slight extra cost of LED lights should not bother you as they will not need to be replaced every year. They won't last a lifetime, but they can be used for up to 75,000 hours without losing their effectiveness. Furthermore, no additional expense will be required to keep them going.

One can get incandescent lights of many colors on the outer glass but with LED, they create the variety of lights in one bulb. The diodes are made to emit lights in a desired wavelength hence the color we see. These are pure quality colors compared to the secondary ones we make the incandescent light bulbs give.

The amount of money that someone spends on commercial Christmas decorations will vary from individual to individual, however, most people do prefer to buy products of a higher quality that will last for several years. The stores often have a good selection of items, ranging from cheaper to much more expensive. Try to find lights and other decorations at a good price, but ones that will serve you for a decent length of time.
