The Need Of A Perfect Piecing Seam Guide

By Kenya Campos

With more and more people becoming fashion conscious in the world today, more fashion and design schools are coming up to accommodate the many people who are interested in fashion. Fashion today changes so fast that those who love fashion and feel that they need to remain relevant in the field have no choice but to either join the schools or employ someone from the schools to keep up with the ever changing trends of designs. A perfect piecing seam guide is necessary for any upcoming designer.

Seaming is the art of joining two edges of a line in a piece of cloth. Every good or upcoming designer has to be very good if not ideal in this. For this one need an ideal seam guide and this is the plastic ruler with a laser line and has a needle hole scant quarter inch. To get ideal seams one has to know the procedures to follow in using the machine, how to position it which should be under the presser foot. It should be in line with the throat plate.

Next is placing a small piece of the edge next to the machine, using a tape to hold the sewing edge in place. The guides can now be removed as the edge that was formed using it can be used to direct you, while doing the stitching.

A scant quarter inch is important to have because much space is taken up by the thread and fabric and if not careful especially when making something with many seams, you might end up with a smaller than expected design.

In a case where you end up with an undesired design and you need to undo, there are seam rippers to help you undo the seams. For doing the seaming we have different types of sewing machines that is the manual and electric sewing machines.

A perfect seam is important to most tailors because it makes a cloth look neater and the fabric used is less. It is said that quilters usually have a problem in adjusting to the quarter inch seam and some have to be taught over and over again to adopt but once they learn the trick they are good to go.

Most tailors need to have ideal designs with perfect, neat finishing and to use less material that is, not have much waste of material. Because of that they need to learn how to use a perfect seam guide and adjust to the quarter inch seam faster because it is said that quilters have difficulty in adjusting to the technology.

The process of sewing together two or more layers of material to make it thicker is called quilting and this is done by people called quilters. There are special quilting systems for doing the quilting or it can be done using hands or using a sewing machine. Tailors now have an easy time making ideal seams due to the discovery of this guide unlike before where they only used to estimate the seams.
