Make Your Dream A Reality With Memoirs Ghostwriting

By Donald Murphy

Everyone has a story in them, but not everyone has the time or ability to write that story up, let alone send it out into the world for other people to read. For those interested in writing their memoirs ghostwriting can be the perfect solution. At the end of the day they have their own story, but someone else has done the legwork for them.

Why use a ghostwriter when you could write it yourself? There are many reasons why people choose to use a ghostwriter. Sometimes they would love to write the book themselves but are not able to due to physical restrictions, such as arthritis. In other cases someone might have a strong idea for a book but not the time to actually write it.

A ghostwriter can do all the hard work that you either don't want to do, or can't do, such as carrying out interviews, typing up drafts from voice recordings or organizing files. They can also act as a sounding board for second opinions and to work out problems or aid with writer's block.

A ghostwriter should have experience and talent and be able to take your idea and turn it into a reality. If you are writing a memoir then you will be heavily involved in the process. If it is fiction then you can take a step back and let them run with it. A quality ghost will ensure that what they write is what you had in mind.

Hiring a ghostwriter is not a cheap option, so you need to be sure that it is what you want to do and that you have found the right person for the job. Be sure to check references and find out about their previous work before you give them a deposit or commit to a contract. Sometimes a writer might be extremely talented, but not the right one for you.

The interview section of the memoir writing process is very important. The author needs to check and confirm facts and conduct interviews to find out further information that can shape the story. Having an outsider undertake the interviews is a good way to get a second perspective. Sometimes it is easy to get bogged down in your own views and stop seeing the reality of a situation.

Ultimately, no matter how much of a role the writer has on the project, at the end of the day it is your project and you have final say. After all, it is your name that is going on the book so it makes sense that you need it to be exactly what you had in mind. The ghostwriter may have more experience than you, but don't let them push you around.

Writing a book is a way to leave something behind after you die, and whether you write it yourself or hire a ghostwriter, the end result is the same. How ever you choose to go about it, make sure that the book at the end of it is something you are proud of and want to share with the world. Strive to be the best you can be and it will be reflected on the page.
