How To Introduce Sea Shell Art To Your Kiddos

By Ted Fitzmaurice

During the formative years, parents often feel pressured to teach their kids many valuable things. However, they can only leave a faint imprint once they grow up. The trick is to let it flow naturally, and see how it goes from there. For instance, if you are a crafty parent, introducing sea shell art could be a good activity to begin with.

The basics of this activity are very manageable and would require easy to access tools. A trip to the craft store would give you everything you need to embark on this project. To foster a great bonding time, gather your tools and spend an afternoon at the porch or by the beach to accomplish these steps.

The good thing about this activity is that it is not too demanding. You can use materials such as non toxic paint, a couple of paper plates, shells and sheets to get you started. After which, you can proudly mount the masterpiece or keep them organized for nostalgic trips to the past.

Your designs will be based on the outline of a clam. Do not limited by this example alone, considering the types of shells you can gather. Make a sample pattern by dipping in the paint and printing it on your choice of art paper.

Do not forget to use other shells within reach. This will give you a variety of designs to work with. On the side, let your child do as he or she pleases. This period of experimentation will allow you to see the kid acting out on spontaneity and natural instincts.

Once the paint is dry, you can frame your finished work and put it in the room of your child. There are several techniques through which you can accomplish this. While you have the painted art paper, you can also use actual shells to design the surface further.

Staring with your sea shell masterpiece, you can use tiny shells to outline the paper. This will serve as the inner framing of the work to make it more pleasing to the eyes. The out cover can be an actual picture frame with a glass covering to protect it from dirt.

These memories can be reminisced fondly if they are done on a regular basis. If you want to spend quality time with your kids, then exploring sea shell art is a way to get you going. Later on, you can move to bigger projects as they grow up to be the budding artists of their generation.
