In Ground Fiberglass Pool Prices

By Teri Farley

You've decided that you want to install a pool in your backyard. You've researched your options on the many different types of pools there are as well. Above ground varieties are too small, for what you want. Inflatable style varieties are too cheaply made and are easy to bust. Your decision is to install an in ground fiberglass option instead. The fiberglass pool prices you've looked at seem like a much better deal than using concrete or even vinyl.

Fiberglass pools are a top quality choice among the different options available on the market. The ability to customize them to fit into in yard size, regardless of shape is an attractive feature. They are not restricted to the traditional rectangle or square shapes. These things, however, so have a significant affect on the final cost of the project.

This is one of the most appealing factors about fiberglass pools. Even a small yard with a unique shape can be fitted with an in ground style. It may not be a large pool, but it can be made to any depth the home owner might want. For those who really want a place to swim on their property, this is a better option than setting up an above ground variety that risks collapsing at any given time.

You should approach any contractor with at least a rough estimation of the cost of such a project. This will prevent any quick decisions about the first offer you might be given. After review, the contractor will be able to prove an accurate total cost for such a project. However, you still want to avoid being overcharged.

While speaking with a contractor, take the time to speak with several. Often, some great pricing will be offered because they are competing for your business. Let it be known from the beginning that you are requesting prices from many contractors in the area.

Once you have found the best pricing, you should probably attempt to find some reviews of that specific contractors work. A great deal might not be worth it in the end if the person you hire doesn't produce quality work. Sadly, there are scam artists out there that will take your money and then cut costs on the whole project to net themselves a higher profit. What you are left with is a poorly installed product and out a lot of money.

The fiberglass shell, that will be installed in the ground, will be the most expensive piece of this project. A small shell can range in price from about $10,000 to $12,000. Medium sizes are typically priced at around $13,000 to $14,000. The large shells, while everyone would love to have, are usually in the $15,000 to $20,000 range.

The shell prices listed above are based on average prices. This will not include cost for the contractor installing the shell and it will not include the cost of additions you might decide on. Fiberglass pool prices have a rather large range of pricing because size, shape and extra features all affect the overall cost. Their installation does, however, increase the value of the property they are placed on. They are a nice addition to have when attempting to sell a home because they increase the listing price.
