How To Get A Custom Tattoo

By Marcel Cromack

Tattoos are used to depict many things. Some people use them as a fashion statement while others use them to express their feelings. Either way, it is important that you find a great custom tattoo artist for any work you would like done. There are many people out there with the right machines required for this job, but this does not necessarily mean that they are the best.

In the search for an artist, you will have to be very specific. Not every person who has a machine can be called a professional. Have a sit down with your chosen professional and provide a brief description of what you are looking for. Also remember to state how much you would be willing to pay for the completed work.

Start by checking the parlors around you. Go online and research on parlors located in your area of residence. Consult with friends and get their opinions. Having found a number of shops, call the professionals and ask if it is possible for you to go and view their work.

Personally visit the shops and examine all areas. Check the portraits hang on the walls; determine what you think about each photo. By doing this, you will be looking for creativity and professionalism. For each image, check for clean lines, color filling, representation and whether there was any bleeding experienced.

Images may have been taken recently or sometime back. For this reason, it is important you be flexible. What you need to check for is the designs in question, how capable the artist is and the type of lighting used when taking the photographs. Complex designs are usually a sign that the artist is quite capable of handling his tools.

For each image, try and determine how long it has been on the walls. You must also remember that these portraits tend to be permanent. For this reason, it will be essential that you locate a person who is capable of using the right thickness, color combination and has demonstrated a good ability to use his trade tools.

Take time to make inquiries and chat with the artists. Make inquiries on how long they have been in this trade, how they learned the art and whether they are familiar with other works of art. These are questions that will affect your final decision.

If possible, try and meet the customers who have worked with a custom tattoo expert before. Inquire on whether they like the work, how their experience was and also make inquiries about how they feel about the finished work. These are factors that will affect how you feel afterwards.
